Whether you are in your classroom with strategically placed desks or teaching remotely this Fall, a tool you're going to want to take advantage of for Reading and ELA is using hyperdocs.

Let's be clear.  They take a huge amount of work!  But once you have them set up, they make your life so much easier!

Do you have that one kid who, no matter how many times you say, "I'm working with a group now," will wait patiently for - I don't know, maybe hours - until you can give them your attention?  Hyperdocs can help with that kid.  Really!

You probably know that I create a lot of novel studies.  And for Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus by Dusti Bowling, I decided to do everything I could to make it navigable for students when their teachers might not be right by their side to answer questions.

Don't know the book?  Read my review of it here.

Do you want your students to:
  • go to the author's webpage to learn a little about her?  The link is provided for you.
  • build background knowledge about the ways children like Aven navigate the world?
  • learn important vocabulary words that they can learn to use correctly?
  • learn how to use tools on Google Slides?
  • learn or review reading skills like:
    • identifying character traits
    • summarizing
    • literary conflict
  • have choices for creative summative assessments that they show they learned what they read?
In addition, there's an answer key for all of the questions.  A word here:  I do not ask chapter comprehension questions.  I want students to think deeply and richly about what they've read!
